A Weekly Prayer Call from Aprize

Praying Over the Age of Artificial Intelligence

Every Wednesday at noon we stop working, open a call, and bring the frontier of AI before God — the breakthroughs, the troubling turns, and the decisions no one feels quite ready to make.

Technology Is Moving Faster Than Anyone’s Wisdom

Aprize, PBC builds data products for nonprofits, foundations, and the public sector — work that now sits squarely inside the AI boom. Early on we decided we did not want to build in this moment without praying our way through it.

So we started ALTAR Intercessors: an open, weekly hour where the week’s news, the tools being released, and our own decisions get named out loud and handed to God.

You do not need to work at Aprize. You do not need to work in technology. You do not need to arrive with anything prepared. Come and pray, or come and listen — both are welcome.

The Hour

How We Spend the Time

  1. We Begin

    Worship

One song, listened and sung together (microphones off), before a word of business.

  2. Welcome

    How We Pray Together

A short orientation — especially for anyone joining for the first time.

  3. Devotion

    A Word to Anchor Us

A leader brings a passage of Scripture and opens us in prayer.

  4. The Frontier

Watching & Praying Over the News

Two stories from the week in AI, each framed briefly, each prayed over by someone on the call.

  5. Open Call

    Lift Your AI Burden

The floor opens. Bring a breakthrough worth thanking God for, a development that troubles you, or a decision you are carrying.

  6. The Gospel

    Three Fields for Kingdom Prayer

A rotating triad — one of the world’s greatest problems, one of the seven mountains of culture, and the day’s unreached people group.

  7. Aprize

    Praying Through Our Values

One of the five Aprize values each week, and what that value is running into in AI right now.

  8. Blessing

    Go in Peace

We close together and send one another back out into the week.

  9. We Close

    Worship

The same song we opened with.

Taking part is easy, and optional. Raise your hand on screen to volunteer to pray aloud, or use the floating reactions to say “amen” and cheer each other on while someone else prays. Listening quietly is a real way to be present.

AI for the Gospel

Three Fields, Rotating Every Week

Each week we pray one item drawn from each of three streams. Two are lists we advance through; the third changes with the calendar — so the combination is fresh each week.

Stream One

Solving The World’s Greatest Problems

Nine problems the global Church keeps running into. We take one each week and ask where AI helps, where it harms, and where it is simply absent.

  • Bible Poverty
  • Gospel Poverty
  • Poverty
  • Sickness
  • Violence
  • Vulnerability
  • Economic Exploitation
  • Isolation
  • Selfishness
Stream Two

The Seven Mountains

The seven spheres that shape a culture. AI is arriving in every one of them at once, so we take them one at a time.

  • Religion
  • Family
  • Education
  • Government
  • Media
  • Arts & Entertainment
  • Business
Stream Three

The Unreached of the Day

A different people group is assigned to every day of the year. We pray for the one that falls on our Wednesday — and for Scripture reaching them in their own language.

  • 365 people groups
  • A new one every call
Bring Something With You

What to Lift on the Call

The open-call segment works best when people arrive with something specific. Here is the shape of what we pray for together.

Well Suited to the Open Call

Say it plainly, in a sentence or two.

  • A breakthrough or use case worth thanking God for
  • A development in AI that troubles you
  • Wisdom for a specific decision you are facing
  • People and workforce — roles, teams, livelihoods
  • The Church and its mission in this moment
  • Industry direction and public policy

Better Held Back from the Live Call

Not unwelcome — just handled differently.

  • Purely personal needs (these stay private)
  • Confidential or proprietary detail
  • Naming individuals in order to criticize them
  • Partisan politics
Personal requests stay private. If what you are carrying is personal, say so when you bring it. Those requests are held by the host team, prayed for by them, and never read aloud on the call.
